Shira A. Oretzky, Ph.D.

Shira A. Oretzky, Ph.D., CMPC is a clinical and sport psychologist, who has dedicated her career to helping elite athletes develop a high-performance mindset and well-being strategies to reach their full potential. She has a private practice in Del Mar, where she specializes in working with collegiate, Olympic, and professional athletes. Dr. Oretzky currently serves as a sport psychology consultant to the University of San Diego’s (USD) Athletic Department and other collegiate and professional athletic teams throughout San Diego. Prior to her work with USD, Dr. Oretzky held a 15-year faculty appointment at San Diego State University (SDSU), where she developed the Student-Athlete Mental Health and Wellness program with the Athletics Department and Sports Medicine. This program now serves 19 Division I teams.

 

Dr. Oretzky is a member of the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC) Sport Psychology and Mental Health Registries and the National Basketball Player’s Association’s (NBPA) Mental Health and Wellness Registry. She has served on the Board of Directors for the San Diego Psychological Association and chaired the SDPA Sport Psychology Committee. Dr. Oretzky has presented at various domestic and international conferences and her work has been featured in publication.

 

In addition to her local pursuits, Dr. Oretzky has lived, worked and traveled to more than 30 countries. This international experience brings a unique multicultural perspective to her work

Erin Kelly Bartelma, Psy.D.

Dr. Erin Kelly Bartelma is a licensed Clinical Psychologist specializing in both Sport Psychology and Health & Wellness Coaching. Dr. Bartelma’s work focuses on helping athletes of all levels improve their performance and find balance in their life both on and off the playing field. Dr. Bartelma is a Senior Staff Psychologist at University of California, San Diego and has a private practice. Dr. Bartelma is an active member of her community and frequently hosts Sport Psychology and Health & Wellness Workshops.


Dr. Bartelma is originally from Boston, Massachusetts but moved to California for graduate school. Her passion for the outdoors quickly made her a permanent resident of San Diego. Dr. Bartelma received her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Alliant International University’s California School of Professional Psychology. Her professional training included work at University of San Diego, Rady Children’s Hospital, and CSUSM’s Student Health and Counseling Center and San Diego State University.


Dr. Bartelma’s sport history consists of playing NCAA soccer at Skidmore College (she was captain her senior year), playing lacrosse, and horseback riding. She also currently enjoys yoga, surfing, skiing, and is an avid runner (she has run two marathons and a handful of half-marathons).

Joshua Oakley Drayer

Joshua Oakley Drayer is the Operations Manager at MindEdge. Joshua is responsible for assisting with the planning, directing, and coordinating of business operations at MindEdge. His duties include overseeing that business procedures are efficiently and effectively executed in order to best meet the need of our clients.


Joshua received his Bachelor's Degree in psychology from San Diego State University where he served as the College of Sciences Representative for the University, an Academic and Wellness Peer Educator for the Counseling Center, and the Chief Financial Officer and Health and Safety Manager of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. He is currently pursuing a graduate degree at Florida State University in the Master’s of Sport Psychology Program. In addition, he is a Certified Personal Trainer, where he combines his knowledge of sports science and physiology with performance psychology to help his clients engage in enhanced physical fitness to achieve an overall healthier lifestyle. His background as a competitive athlete in soccer, track and field, and cross country gives him first hand experience of an athlete's inner world. He has a passion for sport and performance psychology, with a particular interest in flow and motivation theories, and how the two relate to athletic performance enhancement.
